In CIRCUS INCOGNITUS, virtuoso clown Jamie ADKINS is the vulnerable everyman, who has just written a terrific show. He wanders onto stage with the new show in a box, delighted to find the audience ready waiting. Knowing he has just the thing, Jamie struggles to build the scene around him using everyday objects. Things go awry as his props prove most unhelpful: his ladder disintegrates under foot! He wrangles an animated chair, tussles with a pesky hat, negotiates a precarious slack wire and juggles almost everything. Theatre goers even get involved in the endeavour by tossing lemons for Jamie to catch on a fork…held between his teeth! His failures are his greatest success. An expert at comedy born of desperation, Jamie’s performance is humble and unguarded. ADKINS deftly escorts the audience along his poetic journey with sidesplitting wit.

More than one thousand performances in 22 countries and everywhere Jamie ADKINS goes, the public, adults and children alike, laughs out loud at the humour and marvels at this exceptional high-class multi-talented artist.

“A little beauty. Jamie ADKINS’ one‐man marvel of a show blends clowning and vaudeville in ways that are subtle, clever and moving.” The Guardian ****

“A gem of a show for the whole family.” New York Times****

“ Here it is a show that keeps its promises and proposes a night resolutely funny, filled with soul and poetry, gathering the public.”

“Striking a tricky balance, both on his tiny bicycle and between innocence and elegance, Mr. ADKINS has actually fulfilled the promise of ringleaders everywhere. A show for all ages.”

“ADKINS hasn’t reinvented juggling or clowning, he’s just made them more interesting to watch through the powers of personality and grace. ” The New York Daily Gazette

” Fabulous, fluid and charming. “ Time Out****

“Everything is round at the American clown Jamie ADKINS. Round, light and generous, just like the ping-pong balls and the oranges which he plays. A tangled equilibrist, a stuntman or a tightrope walker, this ancient Cirque du Soleil’s performer composes clumsy and charismatic character, in a “low tech” solo made out of bricks and stones.”
