Young audience / Dance – creation 2019

ROUGE CHAPERON’s point of departure is to explore the symbolism of the secular tale, of this strong literary figure, and to propose it today, in the form of danced bodies.

ROUGE CHAPERON (Red Riding Hood) is the story of a little girl who gradually frees herself to become a woman.  Sometimes so fragile, sometimes so powerful, ROUGE CHAPERON defies her own demons and shadows, defies the authority of the adult, defies the wolf…

In a nude setting, a monochrome of red lights the stage. Two female dancers and one male dancer embody in turn or simultaneously this RED RIDING HOOD, the wolf, the hunter, a sort of three-headed hydra. Shadows or mirrors, what if all these characters were one? The mother and the grandmother are symbolized by a drummer musician, positioned like an island on the stage. He gives rhythm to the thread of the show, playing with the dancers.

The major stake of this creation is to question us on the passage from childhood to adulthood; to accept the mutation, the transformation, the taking of freedom, the flight, the loss, the doubt, the fragility, all these little deaths which participate in the evolution and the rebirth of each one.

A 40-minute piece followed by a meeting and the learning of a short choreography.
